I had a nice long email written for you that was filled with such deep emotion and gratitude for you and all of your work, but it got deleted. Oh well, I guess you'll only get one filled with half the heart because I have half the time:)</span></span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><div><div><div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Anyways, how about General Conference eh? Are we not all clear on what God's standards are for us and what he wants us to do now? I pray the we maybe doers of the word and not hearers only. I loved that the Prophets and Apostles of our day used the plain and simple language of Nephi! It was incridble, something that the spirit can relay to our hearts and minds. I loved the emphasis on 'The Family: A Proclamation to the World', studying sincerely the Book of Mormon (emphasizing President Monson's challenge to us) and on turning outwards and helping those around you! Inspired words from inspired men and women.<br /></span></div><span style="font-size: medium;">Finland has the joy and opportunity to welcome one of these inspired men in the next couple of weeks. Elder M. Russell Ballard will becoming in a few short weeks to give traing not only to the missionaries but also in a Finland wide Stake Conference. I feel it appropriate to use the Finnish saying "pettymysten pettymys" to describe my emotions for that. It is to mean "a disappointment of disappointments". Disappointed because I won't be here for that, but thrilled for the people of Finland and its participating missionaries!<br /></span></div><span style="font-size: medium;">Amongst the short week between P-days and General Conference we did get a lot of good missionary work done. We found a new investigator named Daniel, from Ghana. We met him tracting and taught him on Thursday. We had a good discussion on the Restoration but due too time restrictions we were cut short from finishing it all. Today we will go back to continue his teaching invite him to follow Jesus Christ in a more perfect way by being baptized. Today is filled with lessons, so we are excited about that!<br /></span></div><span style="font-size: medium;">As we have noticed in life, all good things must come to an end. We saw that with General Conference, and we see that now with my mission. In 2 or 3 days I will be boarding a plane and heading out to Salt Lake City Utah. I would try to express my thoughts and feelings concerning my mission, but words can not express them. All in all, that which truely matters is that I know Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Prince of Peace and my personal savior and redeemer. He is the source of light and truth and has established his church on the earth for the accessing of his blessings. Joseph Smith was the one to restore it, and the Book of Mormon testifies of it. These doctrines have been set in my heart now and it is up to me to keep it there. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.<br /><br /></span></div><span style="font-size: medium;">Love,<br /></span></div><span face=""Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Vanhin Robison</span></span>Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-79500779372442803482022-09-11T12:42:00.000-07:002022-09-11T12:42:05.810-07:00September 27, 2017 ~ Week 110<p> <span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Yeah.. sorry my counting got very far off on my subject lines. I did the math this week and realized that it was Week 110 not 102 for this week. Anyways, despite however many weeks I have had on my mission it was still a good one. I don't think that i have had a bad week though, rough moments yes, but none to over power the outlook of my whole week.</span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">This week we were confined to be indoors all of yesterday, hence P-day being today because my companion got a mini operation on his toe, but today we are back up and at it again. During all of our time inside we got a lot of book work done, updating records and reanalyzing whom we could talk to. I also developed a deep appreciation for my and my companions good health throughout my mission. Being inside all day is not my favorite activity. Yes I do take into consideration that some missionaries and companionships have no other option, but if you can be up and out, do it. We were able to go to a members home yesterday and have dinner with him. We had what is called "hot pot". I will include a picture, but anyways you have a pot of boiling water flavored to your liking and then you put your meat and vegetables in there that you want with noodles and wait a minute or two to cook and then you eat it out of the pot. he trick is that you keep adding as you eat so that you don't have to wait for very long. It was good, really hot though as you might assume. This type of dish is popular among Asian cultures and so it's only appropriate that we ate it all with chopsticks. Of all the places to become skillful with chopsticks, i did not think Finland would be the one.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Earlier this week we taught one of our investigators who is very active in his own religion, which is good but makes him being open to new things a bit more difficult. It is fun to try and seek inspiration as to what specific piece of doctrine will grab his attention and open his eyes a little more. We found out this week that the Book of Mormon was not it haha. He loves his Bible and that has clouded his judgement in accepting another book of scripture, but we are working hard to help him see the need for it as well as the benefit that continued revelation has.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">While following up with former investigators and potential investigators we met a woman that we will name Elen. Elen has faced very tough health problems throughout her life (now fighting her 3rd brain tumor), yet she has chosen to take a positive attitude. When she was really young and was diagnosed with it she was angry upset and frustrated. After some time she realized that those emotions do no good for her, let alone help other people. Since then she has taken it upon herself to seve others while she is in a state where she needs service. Elen may have been one of the most positive people that I have met on my mission, really choosing to see the good in everything and to help everyone she can. without her knowing she emulates and has take upon her the character of Christ, the ability to turn outwards instead of turning inwards. </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">I look forward to an even better week this week! </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Love,</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Vanhin Robison</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><div><span style="font-size: large;"><span> </span>Elder Smith and I eat so healthily, look at all that color!</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoR7v0Zv0UTrBuiv5pKGdSEChy4ICv9b0IRwxM86ebxcgIgIqVe9tClnb8a7GF8O9fPk8KNh3qOoNDerrhpkkmaSWkxqug9jMsEFCdIMUiNHzue43prlS8Ch5UKlno3JkNSfajtWcKeySmNtDhftHHmi9zpQlsA5gSLmrTQnqZnxgaY1w5KeUEdD6D/s4288/P9200360.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3216" data-original-width="4288" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoR7v0Zv0UTrBuiv5pKGdSEChy4ICv9b0IRwxM86ebxcgIgIqVe9tClnb8a7GF8O9fPk8KNh3qOoNDerrhpkkmaSWkxqug9jMsEFCdIMUiNHzue43prlS8Ch5UKlno3JkNSfajtWcKeySmNtDhftHHmi9zpQlsA5gSLmrTQnqZnxgaY1w5KeUEdD6D/w400-h300/P9200360.JPG" title="1. It has been around 100 weeks since I embarked on my mission,although I am fairly sure that that number is off. Anyways whether it was the 100th week or not it matters not because it was a great week! Last P-day we got to tour downtown Helsinki so that was great to do! We made it Suomenlinna (Finland's castle) but it is actually a sea fortress. It is very beautiful full of old cut outs of the hills for places that cannons can be used. It was very pretty as we got to see the beauty of Finland in the fall two with leaves changing colors. Along with our trip to Helsinki we went to some of the famous churches in the downtown and had a great time. A great member here took us all around showed us all the cool places and because of that we accomplished way more than we could have on our own.</span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #1d2228; font-family: Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 13px;">This week we also had a really cool experience is following the Spirit's guidance to hasten the Lord's work</span></span><span style="color: #1d2228; font-family: Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 13px;">. </span></span><span style="color: #1d2228; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 13px;">Heavenly Father blessed us with 2 new investigators during the final hours of </span></span><span style="color: black; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 13px;">proselytizing</span></span><span style="color: #1d2228; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-size: 13px;"> on Sunday night. We were </span></span><span style="font-size: 13px;">tracking</span><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-size: 13px;"> at a certain complex that we have visited often where a few potentials were. As we were tracting I saw someone come out of a door and leave, and that thought just stayed in the back of my mind. With time we got to that same door, noticed that it had not been triangled yet(meaning hadn't said no), but we kept on walking thinking "ah, the owner isn't even home". We walked past the door and down the stairs but something said in my mind, "hey just knock the door anyways, you never know". So we turned around and knocked the door and immediately a man opened the door and without us saying a word he said "Tulkaa sisään (come in)"! We weren't passing this opportunity up so we quickly came in. We taught the restoration, his wife join us half way through (she was the one I had seen leave earlier) and they both became new investigators.</span></span></span><span style="color: #1d2228; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"> We are just in awe every time we realize that the Lord has had his hand in our life and in his own work.</span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div><div style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #1d2228; font-family: Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 13px;">Another great experience that we had this week that resulted in following the Spirit goes as follows. We wet to follow up with a less active which took us to an area that we weren't familiar with which is always good. Anyways the member wasn't home but his daughter was home and we spoke to her through the door (she didn't open it, she just talked through it) and that's how we knew he wasn't home. So we went on our way to our next person to visit and actually passed two Jehovah </span></span><span style="font-size: 13px;">Witnesses</span><span style="color: #1d2228; font-family: Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 13px;"> on our way out. It just so happened that we were heading the same way and ended up being right behind one another on the street. we stopped to talk to someone and they crossed the street. After the contact ended we kept walking and realized that we were walking pace for pace with the Jehovah Witness missionaries on the other side of the street. We looked up and saw a man walking towards us, he saw us, then the Jehovah witnesses and we figured that this was his worst nightmare. He walked towards us but didn't stop when we tried to talk. I believe that he faced every Finns worst nightmare, trapped between the JWs and Mormons. Anyways not feeling like this would be the best situation to contact people we turned off onto the next possible road and started heading towards what looked like a dead end. At the end of the road we ran into the wife of the less active member whom we had just tried to visit. It was a great little miracle because we set up a time to visit.</span></span></span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">Anyways the Lord works in mysterious ways! It was a great week for me, I hope that it was great for you all as well! </span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">Love,</span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">Vanhin Robison</span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">1. That means that the fourth quarter has ended and we go to overtime. In sports we somehow always found the energy and drive to play harder and smarter in the extra innings and I hope it can apply here as well. I can't believe how much these past 2 years has helped me in innumerable ways. The hard part is now trying to find specific ways where I have improved. Elder Hales talked in this past general conference about how all the attributes of Jesus Christ are connect and that as you increase in one you also increase in another and another. That is how the mission is too, mainly because we strive daily to develop Christlike attributes but also because every aspect of ourselves rises as we progress. Though we are not perfect and may not always be progressing it is great to take a moment or two and see what has changed from a month ago, a year ago, or even 2 years ago. Despite all this change I probably can not give you a favorite memory or an aspect in which I have developed the most so don't be looking for those answers😀.</p><div>This week we got to do a lot of finding despite us getting all of those investigators last week. Well we always should be doing a lot of finding because finding is like breathing, you just always do it. I did mean though that we spent more time outside than rather than being in lessons, which was a little unexpected but people were busy. We got to meet some really prepared people though, like a man from India who moved here to get out of his spiraling depression due to the loss of his father. Or a man who self referred himself and requested a copy of the Book of Mormon. As we stood at his door to give it to him, I asked Elder Smith if he would like to start the contact and try to get in to teach. He looked at me and said "I've never done this before, I'd rather watch and learn". I giggled and said "I've never done this either". The contact went well, though he was more interested in getting his Book of Mormon than listening to us yabber on. We will go and visit him tomorrow to see how it's going and to answer questions.</div><div><br /></div><div>This week we had a zone conference, a great one and a fitting doctrinal focus of becoming true disciples of Jesus Christ. I like that topic because so much goes into that and is a focus of life. At the end i got to offer my departing testimony (seeing that it was my last zone conference). I mentioned earlier in this email that have improved in many ways, one of those ways is not however holding back my tears. The water tables were high as dad likes to say and they couldn't be held back as all I could testify of was of Jesus Christ. That he lived, died and lives again offering us the opportunity to do as he did and to become as he is. I learned from myself as the spirit was putting words in my mouth to say.</div><div><br /></div><div>Now it is onward and upward to more people to find and lives to change with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!</div><div><br /></div><div>Love,</div><div>Vanhin Robison</div><div><br /></div><div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Photos:</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Maybe a trip to the temple influenced such a great week!</div></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPEJzFbl74Yx-SagENBX-bbPprMp8W9fIiJc0NDoTA3h4SC_VmdPY7t56FKKsMxefNvkd2wxnE-_RGKnME2XcDix8LvnkDtHdTmacMIMcQ8HGN5rR-3aVmJNtWXco0GT3gjpLZ5G1CBwDxoIq3pd3I7cgX77xFsK4yRV7AS7S203w2i7MZ-bsfdbTb/s2560/P8290154.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="2560" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPEJzFbl74Yx-SagENBX-bbPprMp8W9fIiJc0NDoTA3h4SC_VmdPY7t56FKKsMxefNvkd2wxnE-_RGKnME2XcDix8LvnkDtHdTmacMIMcQ8HGN5rR-3aVmJNtWXco0GT3gjpLZ5G1CBwDxoIq3pd3I7cgX77xFsK4yRV7AS7S203w2i7MZ-bsfdbTb/w400-h300/P8290154.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitgLtoAcV756Irv0pZKQxCtJfL8ILffID9jNEYx9nYUHz5Otk6z4O258OAExh5hBnkVhVlufV3jHDTf_hDHYrjwLZUCeIunX1MRisIlzF3qofO18U0yrmhOQnz-tB7jIg_72PdRSdLNCuQQsLnAb4Mlvcg2IGUjnqZLUlffz831ULuWF8Z4Xx6vqZo/s2560/P8290157.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="2560" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitgLtoAcV756Irv0pZKQxCtJfL8ILffID9jNEYx9nYUHz5Otk6z4O258OAExh5hBnkVhVlufV3jHDTf_hDHYrjwLZUCeIunX1MRisIlzF3qofO18U0yrmhOQnz-tB7jIg_72PdRSdLNCuQQsLnAb4Mlvcg2IGUjnqZLUlffz831ULuWF8Z4Xx6vqZo/w400-h300/P8290157.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div><br style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /></div>Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-8551931657491440832022-07-26T08:30:00.001-07:002022-07-27T20:34:34.534-07:00August 29, 2017 ~ Week 97<p> <span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Hey Family and friends, I apologize that this will be a shorter email. My companion and I are trying to make it to the temple today so everything is cut a little short! It is hard to capture all that has happened this week i just a few paragraphs. Just know and take from this email that i know that God is our loving Heavenly Father and that Jesus Christ is our Savior and leads this church. We had a lot of mini miracles this week but I won't be able to elaborated on all of them.</span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We found 4 new investigators this week which is a miracle in and of itself! We taught that miracle contact that we had,the one who went to pray but then we knocked on her door as if it was an answer to an unspoken prayer. we had maybe on of the best first lessons that I have had on my mission and we left having a lot of hope for her. We had a return appointment for Friday at 10:30 but she texted us that morning at 7 cancelling our lesson and not wanting to meet again. She talked with her family about meeting with us and they, being strong members of another church, cause a lot of contention and conflict. Right now she is trying to decided to continue and act in faith and meet with us or to make peace and conform to her family. It was heartbreaking and really an unfair situation for her to be in. We were pretty deflated after that and all personal study we were just trying to find solace in Christ. After personal study ended and it was time to go outside, feeling pretty tired of feeling bad for myself and having self pity, I stood up and said the Elder Smith "today is going to be a great day because we choose it to be"! With that increased faith we stepped out the door, followed our inspired plans and Heavenly Father lead us to a young woman from the Philippines trying to find a certain address. We helped her get there and set up a lesson for the next day. The lesson went great and there with her was her sister who is now investigating. we called a few days ago to confirm a meeting for this week and she informed us that her husband and mother would now be there. Just like that Heavenly Father has already blessed us with 2 great investigators, who are really seeking for the truth and it appears will bless us with 2 more investigators! </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We got a lot of help from Heavenly Father in a lot of unseen ways, whether it was that we were able to help navigate a member to our lesson over the phone only because we had been where he was the previous day due to getting off at the wrong train station or if it was that we could get a member or two to come to lessons hours before the lesson started, on a weekday morning. Heavenly Father really does watch over us and Jesus Christ leads us. Or how about our investigator asking us a question by quoting the Bible, a passage that seemed to be contradicting to our doctrine, and the spirit giving us the wisdom to resolve his concern in 6 words, much simpler than what I could have come up with myself. It was a great week!</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">I hope that you all have a great week!:) </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Love,</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Vanhin Robison</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha_bViF4lDabL7AgmM4X1OBlg9YqnAnOjCx_ARKkSdK00ikwHJRXWTvs9Ux29WSIF5B7xEL9HuM1iMTnR6p6w-mrxfI7yZNaDDs89PU4JlsEV_ISy9q7aJUqnoAMRx5weYY2uDgyVY_yCccSLzKg4Lgo0iMNb1axpAgRahK2qEaGMe-pUb28Ed9unH/s2560/P8250136.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="2560" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha_bViF4lDabL7AgmM4X1OBlg9YqnAnOjCx_ARKkSdK00ikwHJRXWTvs9Ux29WSIF5B7xEL9HuM1iMTnR6p6w-mrxfI7yZNaDDs89PU4JlsEV_ISy9q7aJUqnoAMRx5weYY2uDgyVY_yCccSLzKg4Lgo0iMNb1axpAgRahK2qEaGMe-pUb28Ed9unH/w640-h480/P8250136.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiyd2KnwjYLgUH-th5Hq1RRzjhQcgnU9HFwr9o59ZziKqs3DU0phN_Ewqjd18sGDPVgXUFdatLmH9MR0UFlHZxaoWd3_rX3X6HWB4Yjc5pUaA_Ay36iY5A9tXSVYihq-WGgVFI3di10kfZLL0nA4gVoDLxitttG2a96cq68VXeD0CdZ_ne692b2h54/s2560/P8250137.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="2560" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiyd2KnwjYLgUH-th5Hq1RRzjhQcgnU9HFwr9o59ZziKqs3DU0phN_Ewqjd18sGDPVgXUFdatLmH9MR0UFlHZxaoWd3_rX3X6HWB4Yjc5pUaA_Ay36iY5A9tXSVYihq-WGgVFI3di10kfZLL0nA4gVoDLxitttG2a96cq68VXeD0CdZ_ne692b2h54/w640-h480/P8250137.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div>Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-34472306113243984142022-07-26T08:00:00.001-07:002022-07-27T20:34:13.296-07:00August 22, 2017 ~ Week 96<p> <span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Hey family and friends a lot happened this week and I don't have all the time in the world so we will see how far I get!</span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">This week Finland had it's first major news break in a long long time. In Turku, there was a man who attacked and killed 2 people with a knife and injured many more. He was caught and arrested only minutes. This was the only thing on the Finnish peoples mind the past few days. We even held a moment of silence at the beginning of sacrament meeting in remembrance of those who were affected by it. All the missionaries were informed the night of what had happened and we are all safe. </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We did experience a miracle this week where we were lead to a person who is seeking to know more. We had a lesson set up for yesterday with a potential that we had tracked into weeks earlier but when our member could suddenly no longer come due to an unforeseen issue we had to cancel the lesson. We went to her door to do so and to explain the situation and to set up another time to meet. We had a good conversation with this woman and got to know her a little more. Right before we were about she said "Ok, I just have to tell you this". She continued "I have never really been religious in my life yet i have always wondered is there a God and what is my relationship with him and if he is with me. I have experienced hard times in life, as we all do, but I have never before prayed. Then one day, a few weeks ago I got to the point in my difficulties where I could nothing but pray. So i went to my room to pray for the first time in my life and pondered what I would say to God. Right before I started to pray I hear a knock at the door. i answered it only to see that it was you two standing behind my door. I thought there is no way, is this a sign from God?". As you could imagine Elder Smith and I were pretty excited and filled with the deepest gratitude. That is one of the best feelings to know that you were led to someone who is searching and wants to know. We will meet with her tomorrow and we are very excited!</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Yesterday we also did teach another with a much different outcome. It was with another potential investigator who is just concerned for the welfare of our souls. The lesson was more of he trying to show us that we are wrong and it felt like one of those preachers that i am sure Joseph Smith listened to which lead him to ask "which of these is right,or are they all wrong together?". Needless to say we got 'bashed' for an hour straight, not my favorite activity. We both walked out of the lesson feeling more and more confident that this is the restored gospel of Jesus Christs, with restored truths.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We were also able to deal with people as the savior may have done in a more personal way. we met a man on the street, someone who just has nothing in his life. We walked with him to his hoe and tried to share with him the gospel of Jesus Christ but he wasn't listening. We then just tried to be his friend and talked to him about what he really cared about, and that was the NFL. Apparently the St.Louis Rams are now in Los Angeles. Though we weren't able to stay long because we had other places to and that we weren't able to teach, I did feel like we fulfilled our baptismal covenant of mourning with those that mourn and comforting those that stand in need of comfort. The tears in his eyes said it all as we were preparing to leave. There are a lot of lonely people in the world and the lord has a way to take care of it all i believe that home teaching maybe that way and also through us, his disciples by fulfilling our baptismal covenant.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Have a great week! It was a great one for me!:)</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Love,</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Vanhin Robison</div>Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-55136009049752050432022-07-26T07:30:00.000-07:002022-07-27T20:33:15.188-07:00August 15th ~ Week 95<p> <span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Not much longer and that subject will hit "week 100", that is pretty awesome! I never thought that it would get that high! But who knows if that count is even accurate:)</span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">This week was great we had a nice appointment with mother nature on Saturday night. We were about a 20 minute walk from any train station, buses weren't in sight, we were a 20 minute train ride from home, stuck with no umbrellas and staring at the darkest storm clouds I had ever seen! It was pretty awesome. We stood under a little overhang watching as just unbelievable amounts of rain came down in a matter of seconds. I had never seen so much lightning in my life, it was beautiful! We waited out the thickest parts of the storm but then realizing that rain storms in Finland can literally last weeks we decided to just get wet and do the work. We had some puzzled faces as drenched young men knocked on strangers doors. The storm took out many trees too and ended up canceling all of our trains back home so we took a 50 minute bus ride home but got some beautiful pictures of a sun set after the storm. </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">I also branched out this week and made some blueberry muffins today. Well it turned out to be more of a loaf of bread because we don't have a muffin pan in our apartment, only a bread pan. It turned out really well I might say. I was inspired to do this baking because last week we had so much fun making brownies for my birthday!</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We got to get to know President and Sister Aura this week much better as we spent Friday at their home for missionaries who have grown "old" in the mission. It is incredible that i still am trying to answer the same questions that I was asking at the beginning of my mission "how can i find more people to teach?" Anyways the meeting went great, i thoroughly enjoyed being able to catch up with the elders in my MTC group! Friday evening after the meeting we enjoyed a nice walk with President and Sister Aura to the nearby farm fields and horse ranch right next to the mission home. They are two great people. I know that they are called of God to lead this mission.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">The rest of the week included a lot of opportunities to find new investigators and try to add more light to the previously asked question. We talk to people everywhere, it makes them a little uncomfortable sometimes, as it does for us as well, but we just look up unto Christ, not at the billion on lookers and ease-droppers. People this week told us that we are a little annoying stopping them on their streets and knocking on their doors. I didn't take too much offense too it knowing that I'm not the first to hear such things. I imagine that Peter, John, Paul and a whole boat load of other emissaries of the Lord Jesus Christ have heard similar things.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">The time moves on we are doing our best! Summer is winding down in Finland, but we are enjoying the nicest weather ever here. Maybe with the going down of the son earlier it will open the hearts of the Finnish people faster! </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Love,</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Vanhin Robison</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span>1. Thank you for all of the birthday wishes! Many have asked what my companion and I are going to do since my birthday is on P-day, and we have decided to do some baking so that we can all celebrate at district meeting together:)</span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">This week was great, the Lord really helped us pick up the area and get it going! There are so many prepared people here, the hard part/fun part is trying to find out who they are and where they are:) We found two of them this week, well actually one of them found us. H stopped us on the street and told us that he had met with missionaries years ago and he wants to meet again. He came to church and is in contact with us quite often. He truly is one of a kind, I have never had another investigator like him, not in the slightest. the other investigator we got was a referral form the bishop. He told us too go and visit a less active family with an unbaptized 9 year old son. we went over and met with the and they are now coming back to activity and the son is investigating! The Lord is taking our efforts and multiplying them!</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Some events of this week include being kicked out of a refugee camp. It sounds worse than it is. we had a referral there from some other missionaries in Helsinki so we went to follow up with him because we had permission from President Aura and right when we got there the big security guard said that we couldn't be there and since all we had was a name we couldn't do much. </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Another thing was that President and Sister Aura called me for my birthday this morning and sang to me in Finnish so that was great! </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We took the wrong bus about 20 times this week haha. We are both pretty new to the area so we aren't sure how to get around the area the most effectively yet and that includes us taking the wrong bus or train, but we are getting better. it is incredible how fast time goes by when you are so focused in the work because of how busy you are trying to get to know an area and the people in it.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">That's basically all that we had this week, bouncing from one finding activity to another and talking to everyone in between! The work is going very well and we are enjoying our time:) Have a great week!</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Love, </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Vanhin Robison</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">P.s. Sorry that there are no pictures to send home this week, we haven't seen too many cool land features of picture opportunities.</div>Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-17288888712960380192021-07-25T07:11:00.000-07:002022-07-27T07:22:45.110-07:00July 31, 2017 ~ Week 93<p> <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Good day friends and family. This week was transfer week, though it came a little earlier than expected. we normally get our call on Friday and then leave on Tuesday, but I got my call on Thursday and left on Friday, just 24 hours later. it was quite the day! Thursday night we met with our most promising investigator and she accepted a baptismal date for September 2. It was very sad and difficult to have had to say goodbye. we have gotten to watch her grow a lot in testimony over the few weeks that we've known her. Then the next Friday morning we taught our other extremely promising investigator and he almost accepted a baptismal date. With him it's not if, but when he will be baptized. Both of these people are Finns so that is a great blessing! </span></p><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">After is lesson the assistants picked me up and took me to my new area which boarders my previous one and is only a 15 minute drive by car from apartment to apartment. I was sad to leave my other two companions but I am very excited to work with Elder Smith. He is a younger missionary but a workhorse and genius. He's from Lehi, Utah. It appears that I will have started and finished my mission with an Elder Smith as my companion:) In speaking of Elder Smith, my trainer came back to Finland this past week, he tried to visit but things got a little busy for him. Turns out that his brother served in Holland and there he was with Rob and Amy Teske, my old baby sitter, cool connection:)</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">My new area is great, we live in Vantaa, the next county (if you could call it that) above Helsinki. We live in Myyrmäki and travel by bus and train. We had a large area to cover, geographically and population wise. We have endless amounts of work to do and we are grateful for that. We are always busy talking to someone. My biggest challenge this transfer will be to make sure that I take the time to enjoy my surroundings while going 100 mph. The ward that I am in is called the Helsinki Second Ward or the Haaga ward. It is the biggest ward in Finland members on record wise and it's a great one! </div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">This past week I got to go on exchanges in my old area where I served a year ago called Pasila. It was cool to be there but I was only there for 5 weeks so it didn't leave the deepest impression, other than it was my second city, but I am now serving in my 8th city. We went to Pasila because that is where the district leader is and he was giving a baptismal interview at the same time they were supposed to have had lessons so we came down to make sure the lessons happened. </div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">It was a great week! I am grateful for the revelation that President Aura received for me in assigning me to be here! Have a great week!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Love,</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Vanhin Robison</div>Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-4068590296740594612021-07-24T09:30:00.001-07:002022-07-27T20:31:55.041-07:00July 25, 2017 ~ Week 92<p> <span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Hey my family and friends, just when I thought that maybe we had used up all of our blessing that God could give us He still gives more. We found a lot of new investigators this week! A few of those include a mother and her 10 year old daughter, a man from Pakistan and a married couple with whom we set a baptismal date the first lesson. It was great but unfortunately we got a text from them right before church on Sunday saying that they were not going to make it to church because they were on a plane to the Philippines and return in 3 weeks. Needless to say that their baptismal date is postponed until they return.</span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">I also had cool experiences where Heavenly Father has blessed me with answers to my prayers. One of the experiences was on Sunday when I got a call an hour before church asking if I could fill in for a speaker who was not going to make it to sacrament meeting. I gladly accepted and was given the topic of "my conversion". I immediately had a scripture come to mind and began searching for it but could not find it anywhere. I offered a quick prayer that I would be able to find it if Heavenly Father wanted me to use it and continued my search. I did not find it so I settled on Luke 22:32. As sacrament meeting was starting I quickly reviewed my jumbled thoughts and read Luke 22:32 in the Finnish Bible to make sure it was all in order when I realized the Finnish translation was not the same as the English Translation and that it no longer worked with my talk. So in literally a final minute attempt I found the original scripture that i was looking for 3 Nephi 9:20. The end of the verse describes my conversion " him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost, even as the Lamanites, because of their faith in me at the time of their conversion, were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and they knew it not". That is how I see my conversion, little by little over time until I can say that i know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that this is His gospel. </span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">That was just one a few cool experiences that i had this week and unfortunately time restricts me from adding me to this. For those of you who participated in the annual Robison family reunion it looked like it was a blast! I hope that there was a warm spirit of unity and love abounding in the Spirit of the Lord. </span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">This week we got to teach a lot of people because last week we found a lot. It was a great blessing to teach of the message of the restoration and say that I know it is true! I had a super cool experience this week in teaching too. I had been praying recently for an increased testimony of Joseph Smith and the restoration an this week Heavenly Father answered my prayers on multiple occasions. On one of the occasions we were teaching our new Finnish investigator about the pattern of dispensations and as were were coming up to Joseph Smith the spirit was building. I was blessed with the privilege of being able to teach about and recite the First Vision. The spirit filled the room, and I could see in her complexion that the Spirit touched her heart and oh how the spirit filled my heart and testified to me that what I was teaching is true. Since that lesson our investigator has progressed leaps and bounds particularly in reading the Book of Mormon.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">I had a similar experience with another investigator and her family later that week. Needless to say this week was full of spiritual experiences, helping me to solidify my testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Yesterday was a bit of a crazy day. We were going to Porvoo and a member called and said that he needed our help moving so we quickly adjusted plans and helped him. We moved his washing machine from his old house to his new one. We didn't have time to install it for him that morning but he said he would if we just left him the tools. We agreed to come back that night just before we had to be inside to collect our wrenches. When we came by that night they invited us in for cake because it had been his birthday a few days ago. We went in and also inside were his nonmember in laws. we sat down and had cake with them. Though they usually scatter before the missionaries can say hi we were able to visit with them and share a small message about the importance of families. During a ll of this the member whom we knew was inviting them to baptism all night haha. He is a bold member missionary! For me it was such a joy to be able to get to know 3 more people and consider them my friends. </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">It was a great week for me, I hope it was the same for you! The song has the familiar tune of 'wonder of wonders miracles of miralces'! The Lord truly worked miracles in our section of the vineyard this week! I feel that it was not because of anything that we did either, we were just in the right place at the right time "being lead beforehand, not knowing what [we] should do". </span></p><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Our major miracle day was on Saturday when in that day we got 3 new investigators but we really got 5 but we didn't set a return appointment with 2 of them. Of those 3, two are a part of a family. The story of how we found them goes like this. A month ago we got a referral from other missionaries in Finland and we followed up with it promptly. This referral which we will name 'E' lives next to a recent convert and our baptismal date investigator 'A'. We followed up with E but she told us that she would be out of town for a month so we thought ok we can wait until then to teach her. We just had her on the back of our minds as we went to teach A with our member who is from Italy. When our lesson with A fell through (which actually resulted in A and her less active roommate to come to church on Sunday) our member turned to us and said well now what are you going to do Elders? We shrugged our shoulders and said well we only have like 5 more minutes left of tracting time and he said "well get a move on it, you never know, a miracle could happen". So that's what we did. We turned back to the building where our recent convert and A lives and remembered that we had E living there as well. We decided to knock on E's door thinking that maybe her trip was cancelled or that we misunderstood. She opens that door to our surprise and even more to our surprise let's us in without really saying much other than our names. We came in where her husband and son were waiting on the couch. We sat down and got to know them , come to find out hat E's husband was baptized as a 10 year old and quickly became less active. We also realized that he was the nephew of a recently activated family in Espoo. We taught them all the restoration and now E with her 9 year old son are investigating and the father relearning the principles of the gospel. It was a miraculous event!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">In addition to all of this we found more investigators and went to the zoo! It was a spiritual and crazy week! I love my mission!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Have a great week!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Love,</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Vanhin Robison</div>Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-13666683236446605322021-07-24T05:00:00.000-07:002022-07-27T20:30:29.384-07:00July 4, 2017 ~ Week 89<p> <span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Hello family and friends! After 3 years of extremely dedicated service and devotion President and Sister Watson have returned home and President and Sister Aura have come in their stead. We will get to see them tomorrow at a zone conference that will lst 2 hours for the purpose of meeting President and Sister Aura.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">This week we had a lot of great things happen! We would have ended that week with 6 new investigators found, but not all were willing or able to set up a return appointment so we settled with just one. It was kind of a let down but from this we can see that Heavenly father is preparing his children to receive the gospel, we just need to work a little harder. We also had a strong start to this week finding a very promising investigator who has a wife and kids that are interested a well. My dream of teaching a family is about to come true! The husband is from Africa and the wife is a Finn so we teach them in Finnish too!</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We had two exchanges this week, it was a crazy busy week! Lets just say that we are blessed to be able to serve with these missionaries here in Finland, we have gotten some of the best, most dedicated missionaries! It is true they come from all walks of life but it is awesome to see that when you start to get to know some one when you get to know their story you love for them instantly grows. It is amazing what understanding does!</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">This week I got to see a sad sight, a poor young woman who has had her life over taken by drugs and alcohol and at that moment being escorted by her boyfriend who was also caught up in the same life style, but he was more sober than she was. We met them on exchanges as we were coming home. They were on the sidewalk in front of us making their way home and she collapsed passing out. We rush over to go and help out, but we couldn't really do much. We probably should have called an ambulance for them they were in that bad of shape. However seeing them just made me so happy for the principles of the gospel and gave me a desire to share it more with others. i would have taught them right there an then but they were not in a state to hear and act on it seeing as they couldn't even act for themselves at the moment.</div><div style="background-color: white; font-size: 13px;">Anyways have a great week! </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; background-color: white; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Good Morning, we welcome the sunshine here in Finland as it's been hiding for the past few days behind dark billowy clouds! But we had a great week of finding as well of getting to know other missionaries better and our companions better. Friday and Saturday we were in the apartment all day because of Juhannus (midsummers), which is a holiday as sacred as Christmas in Finland. On this Holiday we celebrate the midnight sun, meaning that the sun doesn't go down all day in the northern parts of Finland. Here in Helsinki it goes down, but in the north it doesn't. It was also kind of a bummer too because you wouldn't be able to see it due to all the clouds. But for this holiday all the Finns leave town and go to their summer cottages and won't be coming back until the end of July.</span></p><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br clear="none" /></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1498450487926_28899" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">This week we went to Espoo for exchanges and had a fun time there with those Elders. A tri-panionship on exchanges is always a bit awkward to deal with. Oh yeah, I may not have mentioned this last week but we got another companion in our companionship. Elder Jaccard from Pleasant Grove, Utah is with us now. We had some mid-transfer transfers because a missionary waiting for his visa finally came into the country after serving in St. George for a week of 2 waiting for it.</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1498450487926_28910" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br clear="none" /></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1498450487926_28911" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">In our ward we have started a sports night as an activity to strengthen ward relationships as well as to find new investigators and to just get people to the church. We weren't planning on playing because we were on a tight schedule s we showed up in our suits, and then ended up getting roped into playing a game of sähly (floor hockey) and it got pretty hot pretty fast.</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1498450487926_28912" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br clear="none" /></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1498450487926_28913" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Well that has been my week this week, not the most exciting week but a busy one going from place to place. Also President and Sister Watson leave this week on Saturday Morning at 6:30 am and President and Sister Aura come in that morning to take over. It will be a crazy time, just happy that I am not an assistant! </div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1498450487926_28922" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br clear="none" /></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1498450487926_28921" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Have a great week! This week was full of fun and adventure. We got a call from President Watson on Saturday informing us that we will be having another missionary join our companionship, Elder Jaccard will be coming here today to be with us for the remainder of the transfer, we are excited about that! Although time goes by much much faster in a tri-companionship which is defiantly not something that I need to speed my mission along.</span></p><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Also this week we had pur last zone conference help y President and Sister Watson, it was great. I was upliften edified and blessed by that training. I felt as if I was illuminated all night pondering the doctrines taught about baptism and repentance. I loved the training and have loved being under their leadership these past 1½ years. Luckily they live in Orem so it won't be the last time that ii see them! President and Sister Aura, Finland's first Finnish Mission President and Wife will take over on July 1st.</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">The work in Finland moves ahead, we got 4 new investigators this past week. 2 in Helsinki and 2 in Porvoo. We consider ourselves very blessed. The 2 in Porvoo are two seperate older ladies, both having their mother tongue of Swedish having lived in the Swedish speaking parts of Finland during their childhood, but also they speak perfect Finnish too. The other 2 in Helsinki are 2 African woman, I was not on the lesson when they became knew investigators because I was on exchanges with another missionary at that time, but I have met them before. We are very excited for the blessing of finding these people to teach and to help the work in Finland move forward!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">We celebrate Juhannus or Midsummers this week. Wednesday night is the longest day of the year (sunlight wise). In the north where I came from weeks ago the sun will not go down all night, but unfortunately that will not be the case here in the south, although it will still be bright outside. This means that after Wednesday the days get short (the sun goes down sooner) but we wont really see the effects of that until September due to our sleep schedule as missionaries. Also this means that all of Helsinki leaves for the week going to their summer cottages and hanging out at the lakes and what not. We have received to instruction to be inside during these days unless we are visiting members and teaching investigators.</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Anyways it was a great week! Thank for all of your prayers, we can feel them here in Finland as we continue to work hard! Have a great week!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Love, </div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Vanhin Robison</div>Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-17617459932918960662021-07-22T20:46:00.000-07:002022-07-27T20:29:14.091-07:00June 13, 2017 ~ Week 86<p> <span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">This week had a few days of the most perfect weather, only to be chased out by the summer rain storms a few days after it's arrival. It was nice though because we have to wear suits all day on Sundays out of respect for the Sabbath and it would have been very uncomfortable in warm humid weather.</span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">This week we got to me with a man from Syria. We had to make sure that he was safe to teach becomes he comes from a Muslim country and we would hate to baptize him and then tat cause never repercussions on him or his family. He told us that if ISIS ever found out that he was baptized his family would be killed back home. He said also that ISIS is only 25 kilometers from his house. It's sad that we lose that teaching opportunity but we need to keep these people safe.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We also got let into a home where people from Egypt were living. When I received my call to Finland, I never ever imagined meeting people from as many countries as I have. Europe is becoming a melting pot. They were fun though, we also have to make sure that they are safe to teach due to their home country.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We got to go to the temple this week, that was a blessing. I love the temple and it is even more beautiful in the summer. I have been plenty of times in the winter, but summer is a whole-nother experience! Although I left my camera at home so I couldn't take any pictures.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We met with a lady from the Philippines this week, she is very desirous to join the church but work is a barrier for her as she has to work on Sundays. Her name is also the name of a Book of Mormon prophet so that is cool. Any guesses on which one? But teaching her just brings me so much joy. I receive the spirit and emotions that I expected on my mission while teaching her. Maybe it's because it is in English and I understand it all, I don't know, but it is awesome! </div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">It was a great week, I hope that you can say the same.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Love,</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Vanhin Robison</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">Nice dirt roads to a members house</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkCccTLuspp8cRLM_OT3No1RUFLPtYyihM4wEiO1Ms5a1gv8vpf24QP5QtMkzKxywH5LroFI6XkKq5UiDAdZ58kracZELv9AhudNiLDynqBqyqIs-zEqHgekRD1B0x40Za7iPGLS6OZh5tHLc6dBTKIflP844pPn8p_NVn19MFalBZXsEucpfZrgx-/s2560/P6125778.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="2560" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkCccTLuspp8cRLM_OT3No1RUFLPtYyihM4wEiO1Ms5a1gv8vpf24QP5QtMkzKxywH5LroFI6XkKq5UiDAdZ58kracZELv9AhudNiLDynqBqyqIs-zEqHgekRD1B0x40Za7iPGLS6OZh5tHLc6dBTKIflP844pPn8p_NVn19MFalBZXsEucpfZrgx-/w400-h300/P6125778.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">This truck straight from America, confused my companion and I so bad</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-size: 13px; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8VMjRnQNGDh8NVKA4h4Uarn1BLJmvDUym4e5kuV-Pr95wyA3Yr0aD74JylH_s25qsecm_iV26vjNG4i15hgk7upHXLFHUo7lMhfcUUeDGFGJJo-12SzqMaFc56C7JBQa2G9GejRniFMUxa6zqAIwr3gBfUSRLTTSLQh5qbFsZ2CQKWtmTVDPLg3cv/s2560/P6125774.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="2560" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8VMjRnQNGDh8NVKA4h4Uarn1BLJmvDUym4e5kuV-Pr95wyA3Yr0aD74JylH_s25qsecm_iV26vjNG4i15hgk7upHXLFHUo7lMhfcUUeDGFGJJo-12SzqMaFc56C7JBQa2G9GejRniFMUxa6zqAIwr3gBfUSRLTTSLQh5qbFsZ2CQKWtmTVDPLg3cv/w400-h300/P6125774.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-size: 13px; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">At the top of these apartment buildings in Helsinki you can see forever. I am now here in Helsinki and let me tell you, it was weird to be on the train coming down from the north looking out the window just watching summer blossom as we came more south. I hoped off the train in Helsinki and it was hot haha, It was crazy! I am liking it in Helsinki, despite my initial thoughts about this transfer call. We also cover an area called Porvoo that is 35 minutes to the east of Helsinki due to the shortage of missionaries in our mission. So we spend 3-4 days in Helsinki and then move to Porvoo, spend 3-4 days there and come back. It makes meeting with people and laundry and grocery shopping a little tricky, but we make it work. Porvoo is beautiful though, maybe the prettiest city that I have been in in Finland. It is also over looked by a ski hill, which in the summer is a down hill mountain biking course and it makes me a wee bit trunky, but not much:) we will visit it one preparation day and see how it is, but probably won't be able to ride it.</span></p><div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1496703103175_21540" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">The area that we have is nice, HUGE and full of those ready to receive the gospel. we don't tract here because there are so many people to follow up with so we talk to people as we go and follow up with potentials and former investigators. My first day in the city we found 5 or 6 really solid potentials and set up return appointments with them on the street so we will see how those all go. We also have some great members who are itching to help out in the work so we are blessed there as well. They also put me to work right away and had me bare my testimony in sacrament meeting and then gave me a talk assignment for next week in Sacrament meeting, on of the adult ones too that lasts for 20 minutes... scary. I have only given 2 or 3 talks on my mission because I have stayed in the larger wards and branches in Finland.</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">We have a few investigators right now, a young Finnish couple with a baptismal date in Porvoo (found and taught by the previous elders), a young Filipino lady who is preparing for baptism as well in Helsinki and that is really about it. Our numbers are few right now but they are strong. We will be adding quite a few more people to our teaching pool this week too!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">It was a great week, thank you for all your support and prayers, it really helps out here in the mission field!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Love,</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Vanhin Robison</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-45339617393139789032021-07-21T07:02:00.000-07:002022-07-27T07:25:18.089-07:00May 30, 2017 ~ Week 84<p> <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Hello my family and friends! Transfer calls came in this week and I am leaving this beautiful land of Oulu and I am going to Helsinki! I was in Helsinki earlier in my mission but that was in the north side of Helsinki and I will now be in the east of Helsinki. I am pretty excited to be able to go down there and serve with Elder Peay who is two months younger than me in the mission. Although I am pretty sure that he is older than me, which is funny because I have been older than only one of my companions, the rest have been older than me. That means I get to learn a lot from them which is great! But anyways I will be leaving on a train tomorrow mid day to go down to Helsinki. I love Oulu, I love the members here and the people that I have come in contact with. This has defiantly be a peaceful smooth sailing few transfers here in Oulu.</span></p><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">This week, as all last weeks of transfers go we found some really cool people to teach. We got let in this week which was awesome! It doesn't happen that much so i am glad that i got to be apart of this one. We knock on this door and a young father answers who just seems like he has it all figured out, a nice put together man. We taught briefly about God's plan for us at the door and what is required for us to fulfill that plan. we asked if we could come in and share more and he let us in. we taught him very simply and briefly what our message is all about, and that is fulfilling our Loving Heavenly Father's plan for us and returning to receive all that he has for us. He was answered everything right, asked great questions and really seemed like the 'golden investigator'. We invited him to baptism and he said no. However we have faith that as we teach restored truths to him and as he acts his heart will change. It was just cool to meet him and teach him. Too bad I am leaving.</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">We did tons of service this week too for members. One is building a deck and the other is taking his deck down so we got to play in the dirt a little this week! I got sunburned, that wasn't something I expected to experience in Finland but it happened haha. It felt like i was at duplex week all over again, but it was awesome! I never thought that I would miss manual labor. Although I probably really liked it because it was service:)</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Last P-day we played soccer and I was sore for a solid 4 days. It was just my companion and I but I felt the effects of no real sporting for 1½ years and not warming up before. It was a feeling I haven't had in a long time but it was also really fun! I got sunburned during that too. i now have really weak skin.</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">I hope all is going well at home wherever you maybe! Have a great week!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Love,</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1495557845436_175539" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: HelveticaNeue, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Lucida Grande", sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Vanhin Robison</div>Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-30165091619344569332021-03-03T18:00:00.000-08:002022-07-27T07:22:04.989-07:00May 23, 2017 ~ Week 83<p> <span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Hey hey, spring has finally fully sprung in Finland! We worked this week so far without jackets because its so nice outside! Although I can tell that i have acclimatized to Finland because it hasn't even broken 60 degrees Fahrenheit all year but it still feels so hot! If I were back in Utah I would be one roasted kid that is for sure! But the weather has been absolutely unreal these past few days, blue skies, nice cool breeze. You could close your eyes and you'd feel like you were on the beaches in Hawaii.</span></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Along with the great weather we have had some great work done in the mission here! The mission has had 2 big weeks having 5 baptisms on each of those weeks, that's 10 for month with more lined up and that is incredible. We haven't had success like that in a long long time! The mission is doing well. The work in Oulu is doing great! We found some new investigators that came to church this week for which we are so grateful and excited! Also one of our investigators who hasn't been doing so well recently just accepted a baptismal date today so that is super awesome! We are pumped about that!</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">We also had zone conference this week, so President and the assistants came up to give us some training. Their flight was an hour late though so we got a call from President telling us that we would need to run the meeting until he got there. It wouldn't have been so bad except for the fact that we didn't have the meeting agenda so we didn't know what was going to be covered. So we gave some training on the doctrine of finding trying to kill time until the big guns showed up. I'd say it went pretty well though. President and his assistants gave some great training )two of which are my former companions=. Unfortunately we had to leave during the meeting to run home and grab our winter tires for our car, so that we could give them back the car and all it's parts. Once we got we switched keys and they gave us a new car. We were pretty excited about that one! It's nothing special just a new version of our old car, the Toyota Yaris.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">It was a great week! We had a lot of success this week and are seeing the blessings of the Lord in our life! I hope you all have a great week!</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2228; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; background-color: white; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Hello everyone. First allow me to start off with a shout out to all of the Mother's day to all of those who are or will be mothers in the future. Especially to my own personal mother who has and continues to sacrifice so much for me! I am eternally grateful for her and her goodness! Also for my two grandmothers, they are tremendous examples of perseverance and hard work. It was great to be able to Skype with my family this week and see that all is well, not just hear about it. I have defiantly forgotten how awesome my family is too, getting off the call sure wasn't easy but it made me want to serve even harder to make them proud.</span></p><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">This week has come and gone in the blink of an eyes with many lessons learned. Over the course of my mission I have noticed that there are just times where you need to take a step back and reanalyze what should be getting done and is getting done and then reset goals and make new plans. I don't know if it is a good or bad thing but that moment where a step back is required seems to been happening more and more frequently. This week I experienced another one and saw some tremendous resulted from it today. Over the past few weeks, even transfer I have had kind of a mission low in finding which is weird because this is one place where there are so many prepared people. So I took a step back and reanalyzed and moved forward that night with my new plans. One thing that wasn't getting done that should have been was sincere prayer, seeking for those that are prepared to receive the restored gospel, and the other lacking matter was diligent actions to follow through with the prayer. So last night was a heart filled prayer along with this morning and through out the day, coupled with the determination to be exactly obedient and diligent outside and inside. In return we got a ton of new potential investigators that are really solid which we are super happy about and have lessons scheduled for the next few days. It was great to see that hand of the Lord in the work today!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Also this week we were in Vaasa for exchanges, it's Finland's sunniest city, and while we were there I was with one of the Elders and we visited a potential investigator and set up a return appointment with her for the next day. I heard the lesson went well, she came to church and then yesterday they set a baptismal date with her. That was really fun to hear, even though I did almost nothing in her conversion.</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Great things are happening here in Finland and great things are being learned! I hope you all have a great week!</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Love,</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Vanhin Robison</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-51734129398755463422020-08-24T06:35:00.000-07:002022-07-26T21:49:23.778-07:00May 9, 2017 ~ Week 81<p> <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Hello my great family and friends!What a crazy week we found ourselves in! We had exchanges with the elders from Rovaniemi and had a great day! We found a new investigator while on exchanges which was great. it was fun to be with those elders, one was a newer missionary and is doing great in the language and being a missionary in general and the other is a missionary who is just younger than me and he has really sky rocketed on his mission! We also had a pineapple on exchanges and that was fun, I have forgotten how to cut a pineapple, but it still tasted pretty good.</span></p><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Also on Friday during personal study President Watson called us and said that we would be going to Kemi for the next few days to be with one missionary while his companion was in the hospital due to pneumonia. That was a shock! So we spent the Saturday Sunday and half of Monday in the hospital with the two missionaries, went to church there and did work at nights when we were not allowed to be at the hospital anymore. It was pretty crazy! The missionary was released today a few hours after we left to go home. President and Sister Watson even drove up to pay him a visit (keep in mind that Kemi is in the clear north while they live in the south). We got interviews from him while he was here and it was good. The two elders are doing fine now though, the one is happy to be out of the hospital since he was there for 4 days. </div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">That was our crazy week! My companion and I are doing great, enjoying every aspect of missions, even when we sit in a hospital all day reading the scriptures and Preach My Gospel! </div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">I hope you all have a great week! </div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Love,</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;">Vanhin Robison</div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleTallBody; font-size: 17px;"><br /></div>Robison Missionshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999278203933148342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2773418972505191705.post-14849333633658690452020-08-23T09:47:00.002-07:002020-08-23T09:47:27.492-07:00May 2, 2017 ~ Week 80<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
Hey Family! This week was one hectic week, we traveled a ton, saw all 4
seasons in one day basically and found new people to teach while
teaching older investigators too! This week we traveled to Seinöjoki,
Helsinki and Espoo and then back to Oulu. All of these train rides and
plane rides have put us through the wringer and made us super sleepy.
unfortunately from what I see from parents, older siblings and friends,
it appears that life doesn't slow down after the mission. I have even
heard my mission president say "just get used to being tired, you'll be
tired the rest of your life", I hope he is lying about that. But amongst
all of this travel and whatnot we have been with great missionaries and
met awesome people so that was a blessing in itself let alone seeing
the beautiful country side.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We saw all four seasons
of weather I believe on Sunday when we woke up to a good amount of snow
on the ground, came out of church and it was raining a cold fall like
rain, then the sun came out and warmed us up feeling like summer was
here and then later the flood gates of spring rain hit, it was quite the
day.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today in Finland, the 1st of May is
actually a holiday called Vappu. I asked a Finn today what the holiday
was for, and he said "ahh, it's just a day for us to have work and
school off and for everyone to party haha". That is a very true
statement. Due to unusual high amounts of alcohol consumption during
this holiday we as missionaries are not allowed to proselyte, just teach
investigators and members and then make our time productive around the
apartment if we have nothing else to do. We were safe today and even had
a great productive day in teaching people. Super sad though because we
taught a less active member who hasn't been to church in years and
realized that he basically knew nothing about the church or God for that
matter. It was pretty sad.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But it was a good productive week, so we are happy about that! Have a great week, I love you!</div>

<div>
<div>
Hey family and friends! This week we did a
lot of fun things like going up to North of Finland into Lapland (the
really far north) and spending a few hours there at their district
meeting, teaching a lesson in Swahili and also getting let in while tracking! <br /></div>
While we were in Rovaniemi we spent time with
some of the elders up there and attended their district meeting which
was great, we talked about what a successful missionary is. Since the
key indicator numbers have been reduced to 4 it is seeming like a lot of
missionaries are having a difficult time feeling successful especially
since weeks were we get all 0äs are being more and more frequent, we
thought that this was a great district meeting topic! While there in
Rovaniemi we stuffed our faces! A senior couple from the mission office
was up there for the day and they took us out to lunch at a buffet type
deal and it was really good! However we had already planned on eating
the legendary hamburger of Rovaniemi called the Tosi Miehen Burgeri or
in English the real man's burger! The thing was huge (probably self explanatory by it's name) but we had it for the experience! It was
painful but we got it all down, basically eating two lunch that day in a
row!<br /></div>
We got let in tracking to these 2 college kids, but
it was pretty awkward because they weren't interested and whatnot but
let us in anyways. We tried our best to teach them to their needs and in
a way the spirit would touch their hearts, but they were pretty non
receptive. It is interesting how you can see more and more when someone
is prepared and when they are not. It was still cool that we got let in,
it doesn't happen often.<br /></div>
We had our lesson in Swahili
today, that was exciting! About a month ago I met a lady on the street
who knew almost no Finnish and no English but she showed me her door and
made it very clear at what time she wanted us to come back. We showed
up at the prescribed time but no answer. Since then we have tried back a
few times and set up an appointment for today. We brought a recent
convert in our ward of a few months who is from Kenya, who speaks
Swahili, heäs the best! When we got in the lesson we realized that her
Finnish was not at the place where we could hold a coherent<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIY3BQ35ClruePZRPStbHVOLHI8I55xXJhGV5rvAoQOPRVR8T093USUa-mo25uvjuImkgiNrJKjwtRu9LZu2QIOiLqXn9tP3BNsfaq5sj6nQ8jZuscfzqbyNMzqQNfxlcQr52wTEwiWC0/s1600/P4225514.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIY3BQ35ClruePZRPStbHVOLHI8I55xXJhGV5rvAoQOPRVR8T093USUa-mo25uvjuImkgiNrJKjwtRu9LZu2QIOiLqXn9tP3BNsfaq5sj6nQ8jZuscfzqbyNMzqQNfxlcQr52wTEwiWC0/s320/P4225514.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
lesson, so
basically our recent convert of a month taught her. He would translate
to us what she said and then we would tell him what to say back and
teach through him. It was cool because at one point he turns back to us
and said "let me testify to her" and he did. It was so fun! I don't
however thing that we will be going back there too often seeing the
language barrier is thick and even with the Swahili translation it would
leave her dependent on the only member who speaks Swahili in our ward.
It was a great lesson though, really fun! <br /></div>
In a nut shell that was my week! I hope your week was great! It is so nice to hear from you all each week! Have a great week!<br /></div>
Love,</div>

Hey family and friends! Happy Easter! We are blessed with this great
opportunity to ponder and reflect the world altering events that
happened not too long ago. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the
completion of the Atonement of Jesus Christ is the single most important
event to have ever happen on the face of the earth and for that I am
tremendously grateful!Leading up to this day for the previous few months
I have been studying Jesus Christ more intently and the thing that
stands out to me more and more is His Character, His ability to turn
outward when the natural man would turn inward. It is truly incredible
and something I love to ponder about.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This week in
and of itself leading up to Easter was great! I learned a few more
things about Easter this year her in Finland in terms of traditions. The
major thing I learned is that they don't believe in the Easter bunny,
rather in an Easter chicken. I mean it makes a little more sense when it
comes to laying eggs everywhere, but bunnies are much cool. I learned
this while we were at some members houses spending time with them and
building their faith in Jesus Christ and in his Gospel.</div>

This
week we also went on exchanges in a small town called Kajaani. It's two
hours away by train and actually Elder Henry's first city. He was so
excited to go back there and see the city again and happen to bump into
to people that he had met there. The Elders currently serving there are
great missionaries, working very hard. One goes home this transfer while
the other one just came to the country this transfer, interesting to
see the differences.<br />

A cool experience that
happened this week actually happened yesterday. Usually at 8 o'clock we
go inside to make phone calls because we can't tract after 8 and walking
on the street isn't very effective because no one is out there. But
today we felt that we should stop doing that and go on the streets
anyways and the Lord will bless us with people, so that's what we did.
We walked the whole hour and then in the last 10 minutes we met a super
prepared person. It was awesome, she was excited about the answers that
the Book of Mormon can give to her along with prayer. We were very
excited to teach her and then found out that she was just visiting here
but lives in Denmark. That was a little disappointing, but shows that
the Lord blesses us for putting in the extra effort and doing all that
we can do.</div>
